These central Iowa police departments have requested information from the public to help solve local crimes. Click on a link below to see current requests.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify a bank robber. Just after 3:00 Wednesday afternoon, a man walked into the Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank in St. Charles with a gun. Investigators say the man told the staff to fill a bag with money, ordered the employees into the bathroom, then left the bank. No customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery. None of the employees were hurt. The suspect was described as a man about 5’6”-5’10” tall with a full beard and weighing 350 to 400 pounds. Witnesses think the robber may have been driving a white Chevy Monte Carlo.

Credit Card Fraud. The Altoona Police Department, Windsor Heights Police Department, Indianola Police Department and the Pella Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying two females using stolen credit cards and credit card numbers at several Walmart locations around central Iowa. The suspects are driving a driving a dark colored van or SUV. The law enforcement agencies involved are in the process of identifying the victims in this Credit Card Fraud and Identify Theft.

7 Flags ATM Burglary. The Clive Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying this man who was tampering with two ATM machines at the 7 Flags Event Center in Clive. On 01-20-15 at 2:30 am an individual attempted to steal two ATM machines in a burglary from 7 Flags Event Center by using a stolen truck to knock them off their base. Days prior to this incident the person pictured below was observed tampering with these ATMs at 7 Flags Event Center in an effort to prevent cash from being dispensed prior to an event. The individual is described as a Caucasian male, 30-45 of years of age, between 5’03” and 5’10”, medium build.
Beginning on November 26, 2014 the Des Moines Police Detectives have received four robbery reports that showed similarities in the types of business that were robbed as well as the description and actions of the suspects committing the crimes. One of these robberies included the Amazing Beauty store on December 6th. Video surveillance of that robbery was released on a prior date. The most recent case on December 15 (at Jung’s Oriental Store) resulted in two victims being shot.
The Polk County Crimes Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to arrests in these cases. In addition the Des Moines Police Department is offering a reward match of up to $1,000 making the total reward potential $2,000.
While detectives are still working these cases diligently, any additional information that is available may help further the investigations.
